- Brief:
Your school is hosting an awards ceremony for local
community organisations. You have been asked to provide a 10-15 minute
performance appropriate to the event.
Your work: Must be suitable for the audience
If you work as a group each candidate in the group
must be able to show their contribution. Each candidate will be assessed
individually.
Our event at Monk’s Walk School
You must design your programme around the audience
– state which community organisations would be invited to your event and
explain how your programme relates to the types of people that would be in
these organisations.

will use to help me achieve these goals. The skills i have that will help our group is that i am a quick learner. I also contribute to the group and i help tao to become more focused in practical lessons
How I will know if I have achieved it:
I will know if I’ve achieved it because asking my peers whether i have achieved and by asking my teacher. I will also watch my recording back and evaluate it.

The health and safety issues for rehearsals and the performances:
It is important not to damage hearing through loud sound levels. The volume level noise on the amps should all be set low. I will also need to make sure we take regular breaks to rest our ears. I will need to tidy away any cables as other people may trip over them. When playing live we should still consider the above, as the audience may have some elderly people who may have bad ears.
My set list:
Route 94 - My Love
dave x hus-samantha
section boyz-the worst
vance joy-riptide
vance joy-riptide
Style and Image:
I will wear my full school uniform as we are performing as a school concert.
Ideas for the performance:
The performance will run smoothly because we will plan to make sure we have practised a lot before the performance so that we give a professional performance.
Staging and equipment needs:
We will need:
an amp, bass guitar, piano, and a microphone. We need space that can fit a piano, two amps, electric guitar and a bass guitar. We will also need music stands to hold my music incase we need to refer to it.
Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsal 1: 20th March CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TIME
today i practised every song including the ones i am doing with tao,i feel like we are progressing in our group as tao is working hard
Rehearsal 2: 21st March AM CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TIME
Today, I practised route 94 my love. I found a bass tab, and practiced with to the original track. Once I had finished, Tao had also finished practising the lyrics. We played this together but the timing was off. We need to work out how to play in time together.
Rehearsal 3: 21th PM March CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TIME
Today, I practised riptide-vance joy with tao and with jake i practised route 94 my love. With Jake our timing was a lot better. We needed a leader to help organise us.
Rehearsal 4: 27th March CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TIME
Today we did a run through including all the songs we did. We found it difficult to stay in time, Mr Flowers suggested that we use a backing track. We used 20 minutes to find the backing tracks we needed for our performance songs.
Rehearsal 5: 28th March CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TIME
We began to perform our songs to the backing tracks we found last lesson. These really help keep us in time. I have the bass tabs in front of me and this helped with my confidence. We practiced all four songs. The first song was with Jake on Piano. He was very good at leading the group helping us stay in time.
Rehearsal 6: 19th April CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT TIME
I practised on my own today as my confidence was low on the new songs. I used YouTube to stream the original tracks. They were quite quick and I found that I often lost my place. I therefore spend the rest of the session learning the bass tabs off by heart. This was difficult as my right hand plucking technique is not very good - I often played the wrong strings.
DRESS REHEARSAL ON STAGE and rehearsal in practice room: Wednesday 3rd May (2 hours)

Rehearsal 9: 4th May
I used this session to improve my right hand playing technique on bass. I stopped trying to use a pick or both fingers, and decided to use my thumb. This worked really well and I made less mistakes. I reviewed my dress rehearsal footage and found that I need to play in front of a mirror so I can see what the audience sees. I need to make more eye contact with the audience.
As a band we went through all the songs one last time. I feel we need more practice, but as we all have busy GCSE schedules, we have found it very difficult to find any rehearsal time. I will review our performance below.

1. What went well
during the performance? Think about the
performance as a whole (the whole group performance):
i think that the performance went ok but i still think i could improve
I really enjoyed performing to the audience. I was very nervous, but it was a good feeling.
2. What did YOU
do well during the performance? Write about the strengths of your individual contribution:
i did well on performing all songs, attempting to play in time with my band members

again? Both as a whole group and your individual contribution.

Feedback from others:
5. What was the feedback your received from your teacher,
other group members and members of the audience?
Teacher:
- Be more confident with your bass playing and don't pause when you make a mistake,
- Change the rhythm during different sections by changing the number of times you play each string with your right hand.
- Look at the audience at times.
- Keep your foot tapping with Tao's to keep in time.
- Consider rehearsing with a backing track of just drums on YouTube.
- Print off the Bass Tabs and have them on a stand beside you incase you get lost.
- Make sure your phone is turned off during the performance.
Audience:
- Practice your timing together and if there are issues then look at each other and communicate non-verbally.
- No safety issues.
- Better performance when Jake was with you to keep you in time.
6. How did this feedback help with your evaluation of the
performance? e.g. what did they notice and comment on that you didn’t
realise/know/think about?
i didn't realise that i was not playing in time with tao. what i would of liked to have done is video us playing before the performance and watched it back so i could have found this out before the performance,

Conclusion:

i think we did alright in our performance but i could still improve on my timing and also my hand technique
